City of Keene 2023 General Election Calendar  

July 22, 2023:

  • FIRST DAY for filing an application for a place on the ballot.  
  • FIRST DAY for filing a declaration of write-in candidacy.  

August 21, 2023: 5:00 p.m.

  • LAST DAY for filing an application for a place on the ballot and to file an appointment of a Campaign Treasurer.  
  • At this time, the appointment of a Campaign Treasurer and your complete and accurate application for a place on the ballot must be turned in.

August 25, 2023: 5:00 p.m.

  • LAST DAY for a write-in candidate to declare candidacy in the General Election.  

August 27, 2023 – August 31, 2023

  • Period to conduct drawing for order of names on the ballot.  
  • Drawing will be scheduled between the dates.  

August 28, 2023: 5:00 p.m.

  • LAST DAY for a ballot or write-in candidate in the GENERAL election to submit a certificate of withdrawal and have name omitted from the ballot. 
  • LAST DAY that a declaration of ineligibility causes omission of candidate’s name from ballot in the GENERAL election.

September 18, 2023:

  • LAST DAY for a challenge of a candidate application based on form, content, and procedure.  

October 10, 2023:

  • LAST DAY for submitting voter registration application in time to vote at the election or for requesting transfer of registration in time to vote in new precinct not in the same county and territory.

October 23, 2023:

  • LAST DAY to challenge write-in candidate for form, content, and procedure.
  • FIRST DAY of Early Voting by personal appearance.

November 3, 2023:

  • LAST DAY of Early Voting by personal appearance.

November 7, 2023:

  • ELECTION DAY
  • LAST DAY to receive ballots by mail.

Voter Photo Identification

Senate Bill 14 (SB 14) created a new requirement for voters to show photo identification when voting in person. Secretary of the State of Texas has advised that effective immediately, voters are now required to present an approved form of photo identification when voting in person.
