Annual Dog Registration

Dog Registration Requirements

Registration

To help return your lost doggie safely back home, our Ordinances require that you register your dog with the Keene Animal Control every 12 months. The number on the dog tag is all our office needs to identify and locate the owner.

To register your dog(s) please come to Keene City Hall Monday through Friday from 8 a.m to 5 p.m. Please make sure to bring the following with you:

  • Current rabies certificate for each dog/cat (certificate must contain information about the owner, the dog, the rabies serum and the veterinarian)
  • Photo ID of pet owner
  • Current photo of the animal (for identification purposes)

Fee

The registration fee is $10 for each dog/cat.

Impounded

Visit the Keene Animal Shelter Facebook Page. If your pet has been impounded, you will need to contact the Keene Animal Control at 817-825-5406. You will need to pay a $30 fee for impounding and housing your pet. Additionally, if your pet was not licensed, you will need to purchase a registration tag before taking him home.

Please Restrain Your Dog

The City of Keene requires all dog owners to keep their dog(s) either physically confined or restrained upon the premises of the owner, by a leash, tether, adequate fence, supervision, or secure enclosure to prevent escape, or under reasonable control of some person, except when dog is lawfully engaged in hunting accompanied by the owner or a handler.

The relationship between you and your pet is completely unique. We know you care for and love your pet very much. So let us help you by getting your dog registered. A lost dog is always stressful and a nightmare.
