Keene Fire Rescue believes one of the most important parts of public safety is education and prevention. While responding to emergencies is a major part of what we do, the department's goal is also to give the community the knowledge and skills needed to prevent emergencies and respond safely when they occur.
Keene firefighters are proud to serve as educators, resources, and partners within the community. Through school visits, station tours, community events, demonstrations, and public safety programs, we work to make fire and life-safety education informative, approachable, and engaging for all ages.
Public Education efforts focus on providing practical, age-appropriate safety information that people can use at home, at school, at work, and throughout the community.
Educational topics and programs may include:
- Fire Prevention & Home Fire Safety

Education Builds a Safer Community
Public education gives Keene Fire Rescue an opportunity to meet the community before an emergency happens. By teaching prevention, preparedness, and lifesaving skills, the department can help children and adults feel more confident about what to do when every second matters.
Whether visiting a classroom, welcoming a group to the fire station, attending a community event, or providing safety information to local organizations, the goal remains the same: educate, prepare, and protect the community we serve.
