Mission
City of Keene Fire Rescue’s Mission is to save lives and protect property by providing excellence and leadership in fire, rescue, emergency medical response, fire prevention and public education.
Station Hours
Administrative hours at the Keene Fire Station are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The station remains open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide continuous service to the community.
Serving the City
Keene Fire Rescue provides professional, quality service to the City of Keene and the areas that surround it. In addition to the 6,250 people within the city limits, there are approximately 12,000 people and 33 square miles of area that we cover under contract with the Johnson County Emergency Services District. In that area we provide service for all:
- Emergency medical/Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU)
- Fires
- All Hazards Response
- Rescue calls
Personnel
Keene Fire Rescue is centrally located within the City of Keene at 201 W Hillcrest Street. The Department responds to over 1,800 calls per year from one station. Keene Fire Rescue is comprised of a combination of professional full-time and volunteer personnel.
Keene’s full-time personnel work a 48-hour on, 96-hour off, A, B, and C shift schedule. Our volunteers work side by side with the full-time firefighters and operate on a modified shift basis. The Fire Chief works Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Apparatus Overview
Keene has a full complement of first response apparatus for both fire and EMS emergencies. This includes:
- One 3,000-gallon tanker truck
- Two brush trucks
- Two administration vehicles
- Two ambulances
- Two engines
