As part of its continued efforts to safeguard public health, the City of Keene has completed lead testing at all school districts and some licensed childcare facilities within its jurisdiction. The testing was conducted in accordance with the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Lead and Copper Rule, which establishes strict limits on allowable lead levels in drinking water. Laboratory results confirmed that all sampled locations were well below the EPA’s maximum contaminant level of 15 parts per billion (ppb), ensuring the safety of drinking water for students and young children.
Protecting the health of our community, especially our children, is a top priority. We will continue regular monitoring and maintenance to keep it that way.
The City tested water samples from multiple fixtures, including drinking fountains and kitchen taps, in accordance with EPA protocols. A full summary of the test results is available on the City of Keene’s website and has been shared with school and childcare administrators. The City remains committed to transparency, community health, and environmental responsibility, and will continue to take proactive steps to ensure clean, safe drinking water for all.
