Water conservation is the practice of using water wisely and reducing unnecessary water use. Conserving water helps protect our community’s water supply, reduce waste, and ensure that this valuable resource is available for current and future needs. Small changes in our daily habits can make a meaningful difference in how much water we use.
Stage 1 Water Restrictions
The following restrictions are mandatory and shall be followed by all persons:
Lawn and Landscape Watering
Lawn, garden, landscape, tree, and shrub watering with a sprinkler or irrigation system is allowed once every seven days and only during these hours:
- 12:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
- 9:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
You may water any day and at any time if you use:
- A hand-held hose
- A container filled from a faucet that holds 5 gallons or less
- A drip irrigation system, such as a soaker hose, deep-root watering system, or bubbler
Vehicle Washing
Vehicles may be washed under the following conditions:
- At a commercial car wash or commercial service station
- At home using a 5-gallon container and a hand-held hose with a quick shut-off nozzle for quick rinses
- Charity car washes are not permitted
Vehicle washing may also be allowed when frequent cleaning is necessary for public health, safety, or welfare. This includes emergency vehicles, aircraft, garbage trucks, and vehicles used to transport food or other perishables, as determined by the City Administrator, Public Works Director, or their designee.
Ways to Conserve Water
Small changes can make a big difference. Here are a few tips on how to conserve water at home, in your yard, and throughout our community.
Conservation Tips for Indoors:
